Zusammenfassung
Als Grundlage von wirtschafts- und sozialpolitischen Entscheidungen wird die sofortige Verfügbarkeit von aktuellen, zuverlässigen und ausreichend detaillierten Informationen immer notwendiger und unentbehrlicher. Für die Führung eines modernen Staates ist — wie PIETSCH (11) es schon 1962 formuliert hat — Information ein „nationaler Rohstoff“ geworden, von dessen Vorhandensein und schneller Verfügbarkeit die Erhaltung eines einmal erreichten Leistungsniveaus im Wettbewerb der Nationen abhängig ist. Es nimmt daher nicht wunder, daß in allen hochzivilisierten Ländern Bemühungen im Gange sind, die integrierte Informations Sammlung und -bereitstellung zu fördern und zentral gesteuerte Datenbank-Informationssysteme aufzubauen.
