Abstract
To establish a research group that will work on microsurgical techniques one needs not only the necessary rooms and instruments, but also young scientists with the motivation to work. Of equal importance, however, is a mentor who will stimulate the team to long-lasting and productive cooperation. For 10 years we have considered Sun Lee, who is known as the father of rat microsurgery, as our mentor (Fisher and Lee 1965; Lee and Fisher 1961; Lee 1967; Lee and Orloff 1979).
