Abstract
Integrated planning and economic development compatible with environmental sustainability at near-border territories should be agreed upon among the neighboring countries. As today often happens in post-soviet countries such as Lithuania, human activity in one of them (waste water discharge into surface streams, development of deposits of useful minerals, groundwater abstraction, design or construction of hazardous objects, etc.) is not coordinated with the environmental impact on the bordering country.
