Zusammenfassung
Die allermeisten Reaktionen des Zellstoffwechsels werden durch Enzyme katalysiert. Die Isolierung und reaktionschemische Charakterisierung dieser katalytisch wirksamen Proteine spielt daher eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Aufklärung von Stoffwechselwegen. Enzyme sind häufig auf bestimmte Zelltypen oder bestimmte Zellkompartimente beschränkt und sind daher wichtige Marker für die zelluläre bzw. intrazelluläre Differenzierung und Kompartimentierung. Enzyme sind entweder konstitutiv oder durch bestimmte innere und äußere Steuerfaktoren induzierbar und dienen in letzterem Fall als empfindliche, spezifische Indikatoren für Entwicklungsprozesse.
