Abstract
Since the discovery of the involvement of the long chain polyprenyl phosphate, dolichyl phosphate, in the pathway of assembly of the oligosaccharide chain of N-linked glycoproteins a great deal of progress has been made in understanding the individual steps of this complex process. As shown in Figure 1, the overall process can be considered to occur in three phases.
