Abstract

The various types of rail bridge are outlined. The range of non-destructive testing techniques are outlined with detailed discussion of impulse radar. Specific problems were identified with a post-tensioned segmental rail bridge. The technique of impulse radar is discussed in relation to identifying voiding in the grout within the tendon ducts. An accuracy of the radar survey of around 70% was achieved.
