Abstract
The paper presents investigating projects currently under way or planned, in the Railway Group of the Technical University, Wrocław, Poland. The projects are primarily aimed at increasing efficiency and safety of railway as environment-friendly means of transport. Two environment-related projects are presented, concerning the Lower Silesia Regional Railway (DKR) and the design of tramway permanent way for the town transport. Three programs relate to safety improvement of Polish Railways in connection with the integration with European railways.
