Abstract
Macromolecular materials are now an essential part of every-day life. We can hardly imagine our existence without plastics, synthetic rubber, fibers, paints and glues. Young people may take these materials for granted. Yet the common use of synthetic macromolecular materials dates back only about 50 years.
