Abstract
With this chapter we take up the detailed study of quantized algebras of functions. The rest of this book will be mainly devoted to this topic, although many results are obtained for general Hopf algebras. The aim of this chapter is to develop basic definitions and facts on the standard quantized simple Lie groups and their quantum vector spaces.
