Abstract
Not so long ago, selecting an electric motor was a simple task: there were not many things to consider—the electrical and mechanical characteristics, and the price. With the variety and sophistication of motors available on the market today, the growth of the energy conservation movement, and the increasing pressure to lower costs and increase productivity, energy efficiency has become a key selection criteria and the central focus of the marketing strategies of today’s motor manufacturers. To top it off, buyers are now concerned about long-term operating costs.
