Abstract

This text describes how persistent object system technology developed in European basic research is being used by a small German startup software company to realize innovative customer-oriented information services on the Internet. The description of this particular “entrepreneurial experiment” is intended to provide some input to the discussion of possibilities to stimulate the uptake of academic research results by industry in Germany.
