Abstract
The concern Mitsubishi Electric, Tokio decided in 1989 to build a factory for semiconductors. After intensive proofment of severall locations, Alsdorf was chosen for building a new factory: Mitsubishi Semiconductor Europe GmbH (MSE). The factory is situated on a area of 11,8 ha north of Hoengen, rihgt near the highway A44 between Aachen and Düren, at the „Industrial — park Alsdorf“. Mitsubishi is the first factory in this area. After building — from middle 1990 till end 1991- the production machines were installed. In the middle of 1992 they began with series production of semiconductors.
