Zusammenfassung

Voraussetzung für die Therapie einer Erektionsstörung ist die Kenntnis der anatomischen Strukturen und physiologischen Abläufe, die für das Entstehen, Aufrechterhalten und den Rückgang der Erektion von Bedeutung sind. Dabei ist es historisch interessant, daβ bis Ende der 7oer Jahre dieses Jahrhunderts Erektionsstörungen als überwiegend psychogen klassifiziert wurden, obwohl bereits Eckhard 1863 und später v. Ebner erste physiologische Untersuchungen des Erektionsablaufs duchgeführt hatten [3, 4]. Diese Erkenntnisse gerieten leider lange Jahrzehnte in Vergessenheit. Erst die Möglichkeit der Induktion einer artifiziellen Erektion durch Injektion vasoaktiver Substanzen sollte das anatomische und physiologische Grundverständnis des Erektionsablaufs ändern und die bis dato geltende Lehrmeinung einer arteriellen Shunt-therorie in Frage stellen [2].
