Abstract

Quantitative analysis revealed that the number of myelinated fibers in the postcommissural fornix is about 29.000 (± 2100). This number is (a) constant at different distances distal to the target area, i.e., the mamillary body, and (b) approximately equal between the two hemispheres (Wunderlich et al. 1994).
