Zusammenfassung
Dieser Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über den Stand der europäischen Standardisierung von Funk-LANs. Es wird auf die HIPERLAN-Familie eingegangen, die derzeit vom ETSI spezifiziert wird. Der HIPERLAN 1-Standard wird ausführlich in seiner Konzeption und Architektur erläutert. Mittels Simulationsergebnissen wird eine Leistungsabschätzung des Systems vorgenommen und begründet, warum sich dieser Standard nicht für die Übertragung von ATM-Zellen eignet. Für die HIPERLAN Typen 2, 3 und 4, die als mobiles Zugangsnetz zu ATM-Netzen, Wireless Local Loop bzw. für die breitbandige Übertragung von ATM-Zellen konzipiert werden, wird der derzeitige Stand der Standardisierung erläutert.
