Zusammenfassung

Meniskusverletzungen sind häufige Verletzungen. Während ihre Diagnose im Rahmen des Traumas mittels klinischer Untersuchung, apparativer Diagnostik (MRI, Ultraschall) und Arthroskopie zuverlässig möglich ist, ist die objektive Beurteilung des weiteren Verlaufs und der Entwicklung einer posttraumatischen Arthrose erheblich erschwert. Bei kontinuierlich zunehmendem Durchschnittsalter der Bevölkerung ist auch ein weiterer Anstieg der sog. primär degenerativen Arthrosen zu erwarten. Methoden, die eine frühzeitige Diagnose erlauben, fehlen und damit die Voraussetzung, den Spontanverlauf sowie therapeutische Maßnahmen auf ihren Effekt zu evaluieren.
