Abstract
The design approach developed in the FORMAT Project provides the user with modular, configurable design toolsets (figure 1.1). Each homogeneous toolset addresses a specific need in the ESDA domain, and provides solutions to some of the open problems in today’s design environments. The development of the toolsets has been conducted in parallel with the evaluation of their features. The evaluation has been performed by selected designers on a part time basis. They re-designed a selected application among those recently developed in the SM (Tools and Methodology) Laboratory of the Central D&R Dept. of Italtel adopting the style proposed by the FORMAT Project.
