Zusammenfassung

Das maligne Melanom gilt als Neoplasie der Haut, die zunehmend häufiger auftritt und deshalb verstärkte Bemühungen um Prävention, Diagnostik und Therapie erforderlich macht [3, 10–15]. Hierbei sind langfristig wirksame, umfassende Strategien zu entwickeln. Eine wesentliche Voraussetzung für deren Erfolg ist die genaue Kenntnis der Epidemiologie des malignen Melanoms [2, 8]. In der Bundesrepublik bestehen zwar Melanomregister, gesundheitspolitisch wesentliche, bevölkerungsbezogene Daten sind daraus zur Zeit jedoch nur in beschränktem Umfang zu gewinnen. Gerade diesen Mangel versucht das Tumorregister malignes Melanom des Tumorzentrums München auszugleichen.
