Adaptation of Aspiration Levels - Theory and Experiment -

  • Chapter
Understanding Strategic Interaction

Abstract

Stimulated by the work of Herbert A. Simon, Reinhard Selten has concerned himself with aspiration levels and bounded rationality since the beginning of his academic career.2 His joint paper with Heinz SauermannAnspruchsanpassungs-theorie der Unternehmung” was published already 1962.3

Translation of a paper presented at a colloquium in honor of Reinhard Selten in Bonn, January 27th, 1995. I hope that Reinhard Selten and myself will be able to continue and to complete the work on aspiration levels and bounded ratoionality started 30 years ago.
