Abstract

Twenty-four and 48 h after intraperitoneal injection of the rat with 20 mg 4-hydroxyamino-quinoline (4-HAQO)/kg body weight, the abdominal cavity contained a small amount of serosanguinous fluid. The pancreas was whitish and edematous and contained areas of fat necrosis and small hemorrhagic foci. Gross evidence of edema was apparent by 24 h after intravenous injection. Treatment with lower doses of 4-HAQO (7 mg/kg intraperitoneally or 10 mg/kg intravenously) did not change the normal appearance of the pancreas.
