Abstract
Classical mechanics, whether relativistic or nonrelativistic, is built around the notion of the particle. It is essentially corpuscular mechanics to which has been added the intuitive notion of point particle, an infinitely small area in space where energy is concentrated in the form of mass, a point endowed with intrinsic properties such as electric charge and spin.
