Die Sepsis ist auch heute, trotz intensivmedizinischer Behandlung und erheblich verbesserter Antibiotikatherapie, ein äußerst bedrohliches Krankheitsbild. Inzidenz und Mortalität haben sich in den letzten Jahren kaum geändert.
