Zusammenfassung
In der täglichen Praxis gelingt es uns oft nicht, körperliche Erklärungen für Schmerzen zu finden. Manchmal scheint Schmerz aus psychischen Prozessen zu entstehen, wie der Kopfschmerz bei Depressionen oder der sehr seltene Schmerz, der als Halluzination bei Schizophrenie vorkommt. Dies zeigt ein konzeptionelles Problem beim Verständnis des Wortes Schmerz: Im normalen Gespräch und in der Sprache beschreibt Schmerz eine Erfahrung, die eine Person mündlich anderen weitergibt. Normalerweise beschreibt Schmerz dabei eine Art von Erfahrung, die mit Schaden für den Körper verknüpft ist.
