Zusammenfassung

Die folgende Standortbestimmung schließt unmittelbar an das Vorläufer-kapitel in Psychiatrie der Gegenwart von 1989 an. Das dort und damals beherrschende Thema war der Methodendualismus, der die psychopathologische Forschung beunruhigt, bewegt und schließlich gewandelt und aufgefächert hat. Das damals vorgeschlagene Wechselschrittmodell ist nur vereinzelt aufgegriffen worden (Frommer 1996). Die vorherrschende Entwicklungstendenz des Faches ist vielmehr die Auffächerung in eine Vielfalt von Forschungsparadigmen mit eindeutiger Dominanz der Grundprinzipien des logischen Empirismus geworden. Die modernen Klassifikationsmanuale haben dazu einen wesentlichen Beitrag geliefert. Die Analyse der heutigen Situation und ihrer immanenten Entwicklungstendenzen wird die damals geführte Grundsatzdebatte der allgemeinen Psychopathologie und die anschließende systematische Sichtung der speziellen Psychopathologie nicht wiederholen. Sie wird sich vielmehr direkt den seither entwickelten Neuerungen zuwenden und sie u. a. aus der Sicht der damals beschriebenen Methodenprobleme heraus bewerten.
