Abstract
The article provides a convenient overwiew of the Desert Instute’s work and configuration. It was officially founded in 1962, and quickly emerged as an important center in this field. The main lines of research there are briefly listed, along with the organizational structure. The functions of the ten associated laboratories are mentioned, as well as associated research and coordination centers. The projects of the Institute are listed
