Abstract

Oxcarbazepine (OXC) was first introduced in 1990, in Denmark, and is now registered in 31 countries worldwide for use as monotherapy and as add-on treatment for partial seizures, whether or not they became secondarily generalized, and for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. The estimated patient exposure to the drug currently exceeds 50,000 patient years. Oxcarbazepine is under active investigation in the United States.
