Zusammenfassung
„Telemedicine is the use of information and telecommunication technologies to provide and support healthcare when distance separates the participants“. In dieser allgemeinen Definition von Telemedizin führt M.J. Fields die beiden für die Telemedizin wichtigen technischen Disziplinen auf, die Telekommunikationstechnik und die Informatik, die in dem Begriff Telematik zusammengefaßt werden. Die Telechirurgie beschreibt die Anwendung dieser Techniken in der operativen Medizin und beinhaltet die intraoperative Telekommunikation, die Telenavigation, Telemanipulation und Telerobotik. Die telechirurgischen Entwicklungen zielen auf ein intraoperativ anwendbares Gesamtsystem, das elektronische Patientenakte, multimodale 3D-Bildgebung, Eingriffssimulationen und bildkontrollierte Robotik verknüpft [7, 13, 14].
