Zusammenfassung
Die Neurochirurgie als hochspezialisierte, in Ausstattung und Betrieb teure Fachrichtung ist überproportional stark auf bildgebende Untersuchungsverfahren wie Computer- und Kernspintomographie sowie die digitale Subtraktionsangiographie angewiesen. Aufgrund der hohen Spezialisierung und der mit dieser Fachrichtung verbundenen hohen Kosten ist eine flächendeckende Verfügbarkeit nicht zu erreichen. Vielmehr muß sich die Neurochirurgie auf die Weiterversorgung von zunächst meist peripher aufgenommenen Notfällen konzentrieren. Ein primär verfügbarer Neurochirurg in jeder Notaufnahme ist eine Illusion und wird es in Anbetracht des Kostendruckes in der Medizin auch bleiben.
