Abstract

Cosmology is characterized during the last few years by rapid and exciting developments. Most of these developments are observational. New astronomical tools turn cosmology into a higher precision science at a rapid pace. Numerous preliminary results demonstrate the power of these new tools. The trend of high precision cosmological measurements is certain to continue for the next few years with the introduction of new CMBR detectors. These should be able to nail down most cosmological parameters to within a few percents. I briefly review some of the recent developments and then I focus on what seems to me the greatest success of the last year - the discovery of GRB (gamma-ray burst) afterglow - which confirmed their cosmological origin and verified the GRB fireball model.
