Zusammenfassung

Bei der Colitis ulcerosa (Synonym: „ulcerative colitis“ „recto-colite hémorragique“, „Colitis gravis“) handelt es sich um eine chronische Entzündung der kolorektalen Schleimhaut, die durch akute Exazerbationen mit oft blutigen Diarrhöen und Remissionen charakterisiert ist. Der Befall ist im Unterschied zum M. Crohn in aller Regel kontinuierlich, vom Rektum ausgehend und kann unterschiedlich weitreichend das gesamte Kolon, gelegentlich auch das terminale Ileum („Backwash-Ileitis“), erfassen. Sie führt in der Regel zu ausgedehnten Schleimhautulzerationen und in wechselnder Häufigkeit auch zu extraintestinalen Krankheitsmanifestationen.
