Zusammenfassung

Infektiöse Diarrhöen des Dünndarms können durch Bakterien, Viren oder Parasiten verursacht sein. Die Bedeutung von Pilzen (v. a. Candida) wird kontrovers diskutiert und ist nach derzeitigem Kenntnisstand, als Verursacher von Darminfektionen abzulehnen. Das klinische Bild der infektiösen Diarrhö kann von mildem Verlauf mit leichter Übelkeit und nur leichten Durchfällen, bis zu schweren septischen Verläufen mit hohen Temperaturen, Schüttelfrost und schwersten Diarrhöen schwanken. Die schwersten Verläufe werden v. a. bei abwehrgeschwächten und/oder geriatrischen Patienten beobachtet.
