Zusammenfassung
Akute oder chronische Blutverluste im Bereich vom oberen Ösophagussphinkter bis zum Anoderm werden als gastrointestinale Blutung (GI-Blutung) bezeichnet. Hierbei wird zwischen einer oberen GI-Blutung bei Blutungslokalisation im Bereich bis zur Flexura duodenojejunal, bzw. einer unteren GI-Blutung bei einer Blutungsquelle aboral hiervon, differenziert. Von einer akuten GI-Blutung spricht man, wenn klinisch manifeste Symptome einer Blutung (s. unten) vorliegen, eine chronische GI-Blutung wird zumeist nur durch laborchemische Befunde (positiver Haemocult-Test und ggf. chronische Anämie) auffällig. Der Begriff der chronischen GI-Blutung kann daher durch das Synonym der okkulten GI-Blutung ersetzt werden.
