Abstract

When two trading partners are doing EDI today, the EDI relations are commonly the subject of negotiations and agreements between these trading partners. Therefore the use of directory is not critically required for obtaining necessary information on the trading partner, since partners can exchange required information during bilateral negotiations. Nevertheless the use of X.500 directory services has a lot of advantages, especially where security issues are concerned.
