Abstract

Consider a shell with a middle surface S and a thickness h as described in Section 3.1, and assume that it is made of a homogeneous, isotropic elastic material. In Chapter 3 we gave prominence to the consideration of low-frequency vibrations of thin shells. The problem now is to construct a two-dimensional theory of shells that enables one to describe their vibrations in a wider range of frequencies.
