Zusammenfassung

Diagnose in der Medizin bedeutet unterscheidende Erkennung, Beurteilung und Benennung von Krankheitsbildern. Sie kann einerseits als Kurzformel der Beschreibung eines Krankheitsbildes verstanden werden, andererseits auch als der Prozeß des Diagnostizierens, der Diagnosenstellung. Unter Klassifikation versteht man die Einteilung einer Anzahl von unterschiedlichen, in bestimmter Weise charakterisierten Begriffen oder Fällen in ein nach Klassen gegliedertes System, aber auch den Prozeß der Zuordnung einzelner Fälle bzw. Diagnosen zu den Klassen dieses Systems (Mombour 1975). Diagnose und Klassifikation stehen in einem engen Zusammenhang: Diagnosen bedürfen einer Ordnung, Klassifikation bedarf des Inhalts.
