Abstract
My “Brain Dynamics” concept of 1980 was based strongly on oscillatory dynamics and resonances in brain tissues. At the end of 1978 we had completed the experiments that made possible the monograph EEG Brain Dynamics (Başar 1980). A few years later the extension of nonlinear approaches (showing that the EEG signal is quasi-deterministic and not a simple noise) brought to EEG research a new viewpoint. Later, discoveries related to gamma oscillations on the cellular level opened completely new horizons in the neurosciences, and the concept of oscillatory brain dynamics gained great importance in all research laboratories.
