Abstract
With increasing awareness of the hazards of ultraviolet light exposure, self-tanning or sunless tanning preparations have steadily become more popular as a safer means of achieving a tanned appearance. Better product aesthetics, ease of use and experience with using these preparations have also contributed to wider use. As available products have proliferated in the marketplace, claims regarding performance and efficacy of self-tanning lotions have been refined and broadened for promotion to an enlarging consumer base.
