Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung schizophrener Patienten mit psychotherapeutischen Mitteln hat eine lange Tradition. In der vorneuroleptischen Ära war der psychotherapeutische Zugang zum schizophrenen Patienten die oft einzige Möglichkeit, den Erkrankungsverlauf zu beeinflussen bzw. zur Gesundung des Genesenden einen positiven Beitrag zu leisten. In der Zeit der Aufklärung und der Romantik hatte sich die Medizin, resp. der damals so genannte „psychische“ Arzt, allerdings lediglich darauf zu beschränken, gesunde bzw. gesundheitsförderliche Verhaltensweisen anzumahnen, das sittengetreue Verhalten der Patienten zu fördern und diese vor schädlichen Einflüssen zu beschützen (Heinroth 1818).
