Human Dimensions and Conservation

  • Chapter
Inselbergs

Part of the book series: Ecological Studies ((ECOLSTUD,volume 146))

Abstract

With the human population rising steadily, virtually no part of the world’s land surface remains unaffected by man’s activities. If the diversity of both life and habitats on earth is to be maintained for future generations, it is of crucial importance to first understand the biological role of the habitats and human activities connected with them. The former has been dealt with in the foregoing chapters; this chapter provides a short outline of the human dimension and some proposals for the conservation of inselberg vegetation.
