Zusammenfassung
Unter dem beschreibenden Begriff Immunmodulation wird eine Aktivierung verminderter oder Normalisierung gestörter unspezifischer und spezifischer systemischer und lokaler Abwehrmechanismen verstanden. Während früher der Begriff Immunstimulation bevorzugt wurde, wird in der jüngsten Literatur mehr von Immunmodulation gesprochen. Diese Sprachgebung soll berücksichtigen, daß von den eingesetzten Substanzen erwartet wird, daß sie die gestörten Verhältnisse mehr normalisieren als nur bestimmte Parameter aktivieren können.
