Zusammenfassung
Zahlreiche Insekten können beim Menschen durch Stich an der Stichstelle örtliche Reaktionen auslösen, denen toxische oder allergische Mechanismen zugrunde liegen. Bedeutsamer sind systemische Reaktionen durch Insektenstiche, auch hier ist eine toxische oder allergische Auslösung möglich. Während aber in unseren Breitengraden toxische Allgemeinreaktionen durch heimische Insekten äußerst selten und erst bei einer sehr großen Anzahl von Stichen zu erwarten sind, ist mit systemischen allergischen Stichreaktionen bei 0,8 bis 5% der Bevölkerung zu rechnen [36]. In Deutschland werden jährlich zwischen 10 und 40 auf Insektenstiche zurückzuführende Todesfälle in der Todesursachenstatistik erfaßt. Allerdings ist von einer erheblichen Dunkelziffer auszugehen: So wiesen unter unklaren Umständen im Freien Verstorbene signifikant häufige Insektengift-spezifische IgE-Antikörper im Serum auf als eine Kontrollgruppe [55].
