Abstract

Substantial progress has been made in recent years in understanding the role of atmospheric transport of pollution for the marine ecosystems, as well as understanding the importance of the ocean as a source or sink for many of the important atmospheric trace gases influencing its composition and chemistry. The EUROTRAC subproject ASE has participated in and contributed significantly to this development. It has further contributed with results on a number of specific processes of importance for resolving the larger issues as well as with development of relevant measuring systems and computer programmes.
