Zusammenfassung
Mobilität ist eine Grundvoraussetzung menschlicher Unabhängigkeit. Sie ist eng verknüpft mit sozialer und intellektueller Interaktion. Der Verlust der Mobilität ist umgekehrt eine der wichtigsten Ursachen für Pflegebedürftigkeit und eingeschränkte Lebensqualität. Gangunsicherheit und eingeschränkte Gehfähigkeit gehen oft einem Sturz voraus. Jedoch ist es meist erst eine sturzbedingte Verletzung, die vom Betroffenen und der Umgebung als bedrohlich wahrgenommen wird. Voraussetzung für Mobilität ist ein intaktes sensorisches System und eine adäquate motorische Kontrolle. Ein weiterer wichtiger Faktor sind die erhaltenen Gelenkfunktionen. Daneben ist eine ausreichende kardiopulmonale Leistungsfähigkeit von Bedeutung. Eine Dysfunktion kann auf den unterschiedlichen Ebenen auftreten und steht in der ständigen Interaktion mit der Umwelt. Dieses Kapitel beschreibt im ersten Abschnitt Alterseffekte auf den Stand (statische Balance) und das Gangbild (dynamische Balance). Es werden die häufigsten Krankheiten beschrieben, die die neuromuskuläre Kontrolle der Stehfähigkeit und des Ganges beeinträchtigen. Der Begriff Mobilität wird im Kapitel synonym mit der Fähigkeit, sicher zu stehen und zu gehen, benutzt. Gangstörungen liegen dann vor, wenn entweder ein abnormes Gangmuster oder eine verminderte Gehgeschwindigkeit (< 1 m/s) beobachtet wird.
