Zusammenfassung
Stuhlinkontinenz ist als kontinuierliche oder immer wiederkehrende unkontrollierte Passage von Stuhl für mehr als einen Monat Dauer definiert. Stuhlinkontinenz kann entweder schwergradig oder leichtgradig sein. Mit leichtgradiger Inkontinenz wird der Abgang von kleinen Mengen, v. a. flüssigen Stuhls, beschrieben. Die hochgradige Inkontinenz ist die nicht kontrollierbare Abgabe eines flüssigen oder auch festen Stuhlgangs. Inkontinenz ist in der Gesamtbevölkerung ein seltenes Problem, die angenommene Prävalenz liegt bei ca. 0,5-1,5%. Bei hospitalisierten Patienten >65 Jahre steigt die Häufigkeit auf ca. 25 %, bei Patienten von Pflegeheimen ist fast jeder 2. Patient stuhlinkontinent. Ungefähr 10% der Pflegeheimpatienten haben jede Woche ein Inkontinenzereignis. Pflegeheime mit einem höheren Prozentsatz an dementen Patienten haben eine höhere Stuhlinkontinenzhäufigkeit.
