Zusammenfassung

Die Präimplantationsdiagnostik bezeichnet die Möglichkeit, bereits vor Beginn einer Schwangerschaft durch Entnahme von Zellen (Blastomeren) aus einem Embryo eine schwerwiegende genetische Erkrankung auszuschließen. So kann bei Paaren mit einem hohen Risiko für eine solche Erkrankung die Schwangerschaft mit der Sicherheit begonnen werden, daß diese Erkrankung sich nicht manifestieren wird. Unter einem hohen Risiko versteht man hierbei ein solches von 25% oder höher.
