Zusammenfassung
Bereits vor rund 85 Jahren vermutete Theodor Boveri, daß die Tumorentstehung durch Veränderungen in den Chromosomen ausgelöst wird [1]. Dreißig Jahre später konnte Oswald Avery nachweisen, daß die DNA tatsächlich die genetische Information und transformierende Eigenschaften besitzt. Umfangreiche Untersuchungen der letzten Jahre haben bestätigt, daß genetische Veränderungen der Tumorentstehung vorausgehen und die Tumorprogression mit einer weiteren Akkumulation genetischer Veränderungen einhergeht. Eingeleitet wird die Tumorentstehung oft dadurch, daß eine äußere Noxe die Erbsubstanz einer Zelle irreversibel schädigt und damit eine Mutation auslöst. Das entscheidende Ereignis ist also die Veränderung in einer Ausgangszelle, und ein herausoperierter Tumor ist letzlich eine Akkumulation von Krebszellen, welche alle aus dieser Ausgangszelle durch unkontrollierte Teilungen entstanden sind.
