Zusammenfassung

Die Kenntnis von patientenbezogenen Risikofaktoren gewinnt heute bei immer umfangreicheren chirurgischen Eingriffen zunehmend an Bedeutung. Es ist erforderlich, das peri- und postoperative Risiko zu minimieren und die Patienten zu selektionieren, bei denen große Eingriffe mit möglicherweise verzögertem oder kompliziertem postoperativen Verlauf noch mit vertretbarem Risiko durchführbar sind oder aber aufgrund des zu hohen Risikos besser unterlassen werden sollten. Die Risikoabklärung nimmt damit Einfluß auf die Indikation zum chirurgischen Eingriff.
