Zusammenfassung

Obwohl ungefähr 75% der Länge und mehr als 90% der Mukosaoberfläche des Gastrointestinaltraktes vom Dünndarm gebildet werden, sind maligne Tumoren des Dünndarms selten und machen nur 1–3% aller malignen gastrointestinalen Tumoren aus. Die Sterbeziffer an Dünndarmtumoren in Deutschland beträgt konstant 320/Jahr. Höhere Inzidenzen findet man in Finnland, Großbritannien, Kanada und USA, niedrige in Ländern wie Nigeria, Japan und Indien. Das männliche Geschlecht hat eine geringe Prädominanz, der Altersgipfel liegt zwischen 60 und 70 Jahren.
