Zusammenfassung

Der Mißbrauch psychoaktiver Substanzen ist weltweit von erheblicher sozialer und gesundheitspolitischer Bedeutung. Die am häufigsten mißbrauchten Substanzen sind Alkohol und Tabak, gefolgt von Cannabis, Sedativa und Hypnotika, Opioiden, Psychostimulanzien und Halluzinogenen. Die meisten Drogen, die mißbräuchlich verwandt werden, besitzen das Potential, Abhängigkeit zu induzieren. Viele haben intrinsische gedes webetoxische Eigenschaften und können zu einer Reihe von somatischen und neuropsychiatrischen Komplikationen führen. Unerlaubter Drogengebrauch kann durch unerwünschte Wirkungen von verfälschenden Beimischungen zu Komplikationen führen, und die intravenöse Applikationsform kann zur Übertragung von viralen, bakteriellen und anderen infektiösen Krankheiten führen. Zusätzlich belastend wirken sich die Lebensstile aus, die mit Drogenkonsum einhergehen und Prostitution, Geschlechtskrankheiten, Fehlernährung und rechtliche sowie strafrechtliche Folgen aufgrund kriminellen Verhaltens umfassen können.
