Zusammenfassung

Neben den antidepressiven Pharmakotherapien können verschiedene weitere somatische Therapieverfahren, wie Schlafentzug, Elektrokonvulsionstherapie, Lichttherapie, sowie neuerdings die repetitive transkranielle Magnetstimulation zur Behandlung depressiver Erkrankungen ein gesetzt werden. Diese Therapien werden meist in Kombination mit Anti-depressiva angewandt, entweder um deren mehrwöchige Wirklatenz bis zum Eintreten ihres antidepressiven Effekts zu überbrücken, ihre Wirkung zu verstärken oder um bei Therapieresistenz auf Antidepressiva auf diesem Wege eine Stimmungsaufhellung zu bewirken.
